I've tucked it behind an LJ-cut since it contains spoilers.
Since I had been bemoaning Norrington's fate for the last couple of days,
In Memoriam Norrington
Mourning in truth and cursing that damned script,
That he (dear he) fell victim to that deed!
Thou hast kill'st him without the slightest need,
Shame on thee, foul writer, for what thou've writ!
What most unfortunate fate, what heineous crime,
A man so noble, COMPETENT and brave,
Who fought valiantly wave after wave,
To be sacrificed in his very prime!
Short-sighted world, blinded by Bloomy Boy,
Deceived by Jack's beguiling trickery,
And fooled by Lizzie's luring lingerie!
Yet, treasuring thine memory is my joy:
As long as fans exist and fics are writ
He will live on and does not need that script!
[The poem is partly inspired by Shakespeare and Sidney following the renaissance tradition of "emulatio et imitatio".]

Date: 2007-05-29 12:09 pm (UTC)It was rather meant to be "cursing that damned script" instead of the other way round. And please write "thou hast kill'd" and "shame on thee"! Thank you! :-)))
I am sure these are my mistakes, not yours. I quickly scribbled down most of the lines in the tramway on a (very) small piece of paper and later copied them, not less in a hurry. Deciphering as quick as possible my lousy handwriting while waiting for you in the café was really hard work and perhaps I was a bit too hasty when copying. ;-)
