I think my slow motion phase was somehow work connected, because as soon as work was over hyperactivity flooded back into my blood stream. Of course, it also might be the result of drinking four cups of strong English tea which my lovely boyfriend brought back from London.

"You mentioned you like Twinings tea so I brought you all the flavours I could find: Earl Grey, Lady Grey, English Breakfast, Ceylon, Darjeeling, Keemum and Assam. Hope that's okay."

He is The Man. No doubt about it.
He also got me a book: Spike and Drusilla. Pretty Maids All In A Row, because I mentioned I find them very interesting. Cool. :-)

So I think I will spend the rest of the evening
- writing some LJ comments
- doing the dishes
- thinking about ideas for Christmas gifts (for some people I have so many ideas, for others zip, zero, nada)
- checking out some stories on the net
- catching up with my Angel and Buffy impressions
- reading Goetterdaemmerung :-)
- looking more at my new tarot cards

Pretty Maids is an enjoyable read - out of the few Buffy books I've read, it's easily the best. Since it was written fairly early on in the series it contradicts some of what we later learn about Spike and Dru's histories (especially "Fool For Love"), but it still does a decent handling of his and Dru's characters. (Also in its favor is it being set well before the main timeframe of BtVS, which meant the author didn't have to worry about capturing the right sense of Sunnydale/Scooby jargon, which the other books never quite do - or at least they don't come off near as well without the delivery of the actors.)

I started reading and think the author captures the voices of Spike and Drusilla very well. Too soon to say if I find them otherwise convincing.

Well, as a Star Wars fangirl I'm used to books that aren't consistent with canon knowledge. :-)

Agreed. Dru's got a very otherworldy, seemingly erratic yet still very specific way of speaking/looking at the world (vampire!Luna? ;)) - it's a very fine line to try and not make her craziness completely random, and Golden more or less succeeds. Perhaps not quite to the level he managed with Spike, but still good. The book won't win any Pulitzers anytime soon, but as far as profic goes, one could do far, far worse.

At least BtVS has the sense to make its EU independent from the official continuity. Heck, pretty much any other EU other than SW seems to have that sense. :P

I really need a good Spike/Dru icon, now that I think of it.
