Those wacky entertaining dreams...
Sep. 5th, 2005 10:26 pmAt times, I have immensely entertaining dreams. Last night I had one I'd like to share; it's funny enough to entertain others as well.
My dream was quite obviously inspired by the TV duel between Schroeder and Merkel, both candidates for the position of German chancellor. Credit also goes to reading too many Star Wars related things and to listening to George Bush on TV.
In my dream, George Bush and Hayden Christensen were in a TV duel, competiting for the German chancellorship.
George Bush gave as reason that he wanted to take on the challenge of governing a smaller country to see how it compares to governing the US.
Hayden Christensen said he wanted to make a difference and that he felt his youth and idealism gave him an advantage. Also his mother came from Munich, Obergiesing, so he felt totally connected to Germany. Even in my dream I was surprised by this information.
I was delighted by Hayden applying for the job, because, hey, he might have not a clue about politics, but neither have some politicians. Also he's enthusiastic and good-looking - and wouldn't watching a good-looking chancellor making speeches be refreshing?
Well, the one problem was that the TV reporters started calling Hayden "Anakin". They also brought up that he had turned to the Dark Side in the past and showed pictures of yellow eyed Sith Lord Anakin to prove their point. Hayden tried to explain that this was just a part he had played, but the reporters were kind of wary. Silly reporters.
One thing I really enjoyed about my dream TV duel: The participants had to stand on a ladder and when they scored a point in the discussion they were allowed to climb up one step. This made for entertaining acrobatics. Maybe I should write to the broadcasting companies and suggest they introduce this for the next official TV duel.
Before I woke up my dream shifted a bit and I had the great pleasure to see a musical version of "Empire Strikes Back".
Leia was singing a song of love and woe while standing in the open airlock of the Millenium Falcon next to newly handless Luke. Her song was long and Luke was looking sick while she was singing it. I kind of thought she should have stopped singing and helped Luke inside so he could have gotten medical attention, but I had no say in it.
A neat touch was that Yoda was humming the background choir. Who'd have thought he had it in him.
I woke up laughing, but during breakfast was a bit down when I realized Hayden Christensen isn't up for election after all. *sigh* Well, such is life.

Date: 2005-09-07 08:57 pm (UTC)I think I have dreamt about Palpatine in politics more than once. I remember I was surprised at how natural and at home he seemed to be in an EU meeting I was dreaming about.
