Work life news behind the cut.
The dates for when I have to hold trainings in UK & Ireland have been fixed. This means that I'll be in London 15th - 17th of August and in London and Dublin 12th to 18th of September.
I'm really looking forward to the second round of trainings, because I'll stay in Dublin over the weekend. My co-trainer and I are planning to rent a car on Saturday and drive to the points of interest around Dublin.
I've never been to Ireland before, so I'm very pleased that I can go there for basically no cost. :-)
Strange: In the past, I hated doing trainings. I didn't like standing in front of people, having to be patient. I didn't like having to go out with them in the evening and trying to charm them. And I didn't like having to spend the time afterwards in anonymous hotel rooms.
Well, I still get a bit nervous 30 minutes before I have to do the training, but otherwise I don't mind. I've handled some very difficult situation by now, e.g. presenting our programm to a bunch of senior managers with high expectations. So all in all, I feel much more confident.
I also don't mind going out to dinner all that much any more. In case I don't know what to say, I just drink a glass of red wine and smile. :-)
It also really helps that I get along with my co-trainer so well. He's from the company for which we provide the trainings, so I do the technical bits and he assists me with background information, e.g. why is it important for people in their company to maintain certain data.
Like me, he's more of an introvert and doesn't like to be at the centre of things. Somehow that really helps. :-)
I also like it that he's smart. He gets all the complicated technical background info really quickly. Plus he's organized and reliant. If he say's he'll organize a beamer, the beamer will be there. (And yes, that's not a common thing at all. During my trainings I actually learned not to rely on others.
Yesterday I attended a seminar teaching relaxation techniques and self-hypnosis.
I'm normally having a bit of a problem with letting go. So I relaxation techniques didn't work all that well for me in the past. I'm just not patient enough.
Well, this time was different. The self-hypnosis worked immediately and the experience was quite amazing. I actually was in a state of total calmness, at the same time I felt wide awake and totally aware of many things.
What really amazed me: When the coach told us to move back from the trance, I was rather annoyed. I felt like only 5 minutes had passed. Well, it turned out nearly half an hour had went by.
Afterwards, I felt totally active. I had been so tired beforehand, really exhausted and only wanting to sleep. And then - wow, I felt as if I could have run a marathon. Actually jogged to the tube station and when coming home wrote all the mails I should have written weeks ago. :-)
My boy-friend is in the USA attending the siggraph and yesterday was in a lecture held by George Lucas himself. He's lucky, he is!
As for LJ maintenance: I tagged and "mooded" all my LJ entries. Which was a Very Important Task That Needed To Be Done. :-)
