1) Total number of films I own on DVD/video:
Same response as for my books: I have absolutely no idea.
Ever since my boyfriend and I have merged our collections, we own *a lot* of movies on DVD, Laser Disc and video.
(It's safe to say though that we still got more books than movies.)
2) The last film I bought:
Harry Potter - The Prisoner of Azkaban and Whale Rider.
3) The last film I watched:
In the cinema: Revenge of the Sith
At home: Harry Potter - The Prisoner of Azkaban. Definitely the best of the HP movies so far. (I'm still not happy that so much of the Marauder's backstory was removed, but otherwise it's well done.)
4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:
a) The Shawshank Redemption
I've watched this movie so often, but whenever it's shown on TV I watch it again.
I enjoy how the story slowly develops and how things are revealed bit by bit. It's a very hopeful movie with a beautiful ending.

b) The Defiant Ones
Sidney Poitier and Tony Curtis are great as two prisoners on the run. Seeing Joker and Noah gradually overcome their hatred for one another fascinates me every time.
(On a side note: I wonder why there's absolutely no fanfiction about them. It's certainly not for lack of chemistry. :-))

c) Dolores Claiburne
Like "Shawshank Redemption" it's based on a story by Stephen King. And like "Shawshank Redemption" it's not a horror movie. I enjoy it because of the interesting characters (three complex women), great performances by Kathy Bates and Judy Parfitt and the visuals.

d) Bullets over Broadway
I'm not a Woodie Allen fan as such, but I love this film. It's perfectly paced, funny and very clever. The actors are all wonderful. The main question of this film is: What is an artist anyway? The answer the film gives is quite surprising. :-)
(It's also one of the few films I enjoy equally in English and in German.)

e) Star Wars I - VI
Since it's my opinion that each Star Wars movies has to be regarded in context, I list the six movies as one.
I enjoy the Star Wars movies because I discover something new every time I watch them. There are just so many levels to explore. They can be watched as action movies, as drama, as modern myth, as a story about love/friendship, as the journey of a hero, ...
